Cat Vomiting: What It May Mean and How Imaging Can Help
4 Paws Imaging Centers provides advanced abdominal ultrasound imaging to help your veterinarian see what is happening inside your pet’s body. We do not provide primary or emergency treatment; our role is to deliver the diagnostic imaging your vet needs to guide your pet’s care.
Common Causes of Chronic or Recurring Vomiting
Occasional vomiting can be minor, but frequent or ongoing vomiting often points to something your veterinarian will want to investigate further.
- Gastrointestinal inflammation or disease
- A foreign object or obstruction
- Organ disease (liver, kidney, or pancreas)
- Masses or growths in the abdomen
- Chronic pancreatitis

How Ultrasound Helps Diagnose This
Ultrasound lets your veterinarian see the stomach, intestines, and surrounding organs directly, which is often the fastest way to find the cause of ongoing vomiting.
- Abdominal ultrasound to examine the stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and kidneys
- Checking for obstructions, thickened intestinal walls, or masses
- Evaluating organ size and texture for signs of disease
What Happens Next
We send full imaging results to your cat's veterinarian, who will use them to confirm a diagnosis and decide on treatment.
If your veterinarian has recommended imaging, or you would like to ask about scheduling, contact 4 Paws Imaging Centers at (630) 746-1382. We see patients by appointment only and work closely with your primary veterinarian to coordinate care.
